There are many programs offered at the Mequon United Methodist Church which
offer the opportunity to both serve and learn. Programs are available to address all
age groups. Check out these programs by clicking on a selection below.
Caring
The caring committee includes members of the church who
give time to help others and plan events that enable fellowship and community. The
variety of needs make it possible for each committee member to choose one or more
activities, matching their interests and time. Services include visitation, crisis
assistance, shopping, transportation, business help, home maintenance, telephoning, and
acknowledging special occasions with cards or flowers.
Prayer Breakfasts
The monthly Women's Prayer Breakfast meets on the first
Wednesday of each at 7:00 a.m. The monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast meets on the first
Thursday of each month at 7:00 a.m. This hour offers an hour or prayer, communion
and fellowship.
Adult Education
A number of adult education opportunities are offered
throughout the year. An Adult Bible Study group meets each Sunday morning at 8:00
a.m. during the school year. Adult studies covering a wide variety of topics are
offered in conjunction with our Wednesday-evening Circuit Program. Short-term adult
studies, such as our annual Lenten study, are also scheduled at various times during the
year.

Women's Prayer Breakfast
The monthly Women's Prayer Breakfast meets on the first
Wednesday of each at 7:00 a.m. This hour offers an hour or prayer, communion and
fellowship.
Reflections
Reflections is a women's book group which meets the third Thursday of each
month from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Meetings include time for fellowship and refreshments,
in addition to a book discussion. Child care is available.
Retreat
A Women's Retreat is scheduled each fall, typically the first weekend in
November. Details are publicized in our weekly church bulletin and monthly newsletter.
Prayer Chain
The women of the church sponsor a prayer chain which supports the congregation
with intercessory prayer. Participation is open to all members of the congregation.
Middle and
High School Fellowship
Our vibrant youth program offers opportunities for
participation to both middle school and Senior High School students. Sunday-evening
Senior High Fellowship focuses on exploring our Christian faith while building
relationships and having fun. Middle school students participate in a similar
program on Wednesday evening through the Circuit Program. Both groups have a monthly
social activity that involves such things as retreats, sports activities, mission
opportunities and fun community events.
Summer Youth Mission opportunities include a week-long
trip out of state. The youth do home projects for those with low incomes. We
also have a new local mission project where both middle school and high school students
are invited to work with children in a Bible School context.
Confirmation Class
A confirmation class for education in the United
Methodist faith tradition is offered in connection with the Wednesday evening Circuit
program for youths in 8th grade and older youth in preparation for church
membership.
Sunday School
During both worship services, children and youth,
ages preschool through grade school accompany their parents into the sanctuary to
participate in the worship service for approximately 15 minutes. Following the
Children's Time with the Pastor, children will be dismissed to go to age-group
classes. Middle and High School classes are held during the second service
only.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School for children is offered
the last week of June each summer. Classes are offered for preschool and elementary aged
children. Middle school and high school aged youth participate as staff. A
training retreat is offered for the youth to prepare them in this staff role.
Kids' Corp
This in-house service group is open to elementary
and middle school children. Corps kids serve as acolytes and assistant ushers. They also
fill bird feeders in the outdoor classroom.
Playgroup
A fellowship group for infants through preschoolers and
their moms meet a couple times each month in the nursery, offering socialization, support
and networking opportunities for parents and children. Times and dates vary.
Holiday Specials
Craft workshops are held for Advent and the Holy Week
providing hands-on opportunity for young children to explore these special times in the
church. A Children's Christmas program is also presented in December
Sunday Night Choir
Anyone who has the desire and commitment to sing may join
the Sunday Night Choir . Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 to
8:30 p.m. per the adult choir schedule.
Men's and Women's
Choir
Two special choirs rehearse on a short-term basis and
perform at various times throughout the year.
Youth Choir
Our dynamic, new Youth Choir is open to all students in
grades 6 through 12.
Children's Choirs
Treble Choir - Elementary age children are encouraged to join the Electric Company.
Joyful Noise Choir - Younger children ages 3 through
2nd grade may join the Joyful Noise Choir..
